  Wellwood Programs

Wellwood Conservancy offers programs that are designed to uplift participants, encourage service, and broaden vision.

Special concern is placed on skills of consultation and principles of stewardship, as these are of fundamental importance to "success of both human and natural systems." Wellwood Conservancy's policy on this may be read here.

  Current Program Offerings:

The many compelling problems besetting the present-day world summon humanity to new outlooks, new approaches, and new ideas. The dire nature of a number of these difficulties, which have the potential to cripple or destroy civilization and much of the natural environment, argues for the pressing and urgent need to discover new ways of thinking and acting so that these challenges can be effectively met and successfully resolved.

Wellwood Conservancy seeks to address these issues by stimulating creative thought and meaningful action through programs presented in a natural setting. The programs may be either its own or those developed by its partners. They may be as simple as nature walks with small groups or as involved as week-long events that explore a wide spectrum of issues concerning human success on planet Earth. The selection of a natural setting for these programs is done in the belief that such a context, free of human cultural assumptions, encourages a sense of new possibilities and helps to connect participants to broad realities and to the source of both our biological and spiritual beings. Programs—which stress the need for personal involvement and effective action—are at once place-centered and world-focused.

Willow Creek on Wellwood Nature Preserve

Wellwood Conservancy partners with a number of other agencies and individuals to conduct a long-term study of the local Willow Creek watershed. The Executive Director of Wellwood Conservancy currently serves as the Coordinator of the project. Working with youth, local volunteers, and a professional hydrologist, the goal is to gain a better understanding of the dynamics of this watershed in order to “determine the factors affecting quality and quantity of water in the general area of the Willow Creek watershed and to ensure continued benefits of that water for the future.”
---------
Cost: No charge; volunteer opportunities are available.
Age: Field research is best for ages 16 and up; some activities are appropriate for younger folks.
